The building of the sculpture is schedule to take place over the month of May 2006. The willow will be cut and transported to the site prior to the start of Patrick Dougherty's residency. Patrick will make an initial site visit and discuss suggestions with the Estate, Project Manager and the Scottish Basketmakers' Circle. The design will be developed to dramatize the ideas generated during this visit. Construction can then begin on completion of the design and will take around three weeks. Extra voluntary labour will be recruited from the Scottish Basketmakers' Circle members. This will give makers the opportunity to work and learn alongside Patrick and to hopefully generate new ideas and inspiration. Accommodation will be provided on the estate allowing makers the opportunity to exchange ideas and socialise informally during their stay. The Ross-shire photographer, Fin Macrae, will document and photograph the sculpture during all stages of construction and details will be added to the project website. A portfolio of images will be produced and added to the touring exhibition 'Pushing the Boundaries'. The sculpture will be the centrepiece of the opening event on 27 May 2006 and will stand until deconstruction in an event one year later as part of Highland Council's designated 'The Year of Highland Culture 2007' programme. Details for this event are still to be finalised. Visitors will be actively encouraged to visit the estate with leaflets distributed in the holiday cottages, schools, in tourist offices and with signage on the roadside. The Area Art Development Officer will promote the project in local schools, with youth groups and other suitable groups. A series of workshops will then be put in place. The Brahan Estate, Scottish Natural Heritage and the Forestry Commission will work with the group to raise awareness of the project.
